This site is one of many measures included in a Travel Plan produced for the Brue Reach development and has been agreed with Sedgemoor District Council.
The Travel Plan
The Travel Plan is a document which contains a package of measures to encourage you to try alternatives to single occupancy car use.

The Travel Plan can offer real benefits not only to you, but also to the community that surrounds you. It can help to relieve local parking and congestion problems and improve public transport connections across the area.

The whole of the village of East Huntspill is within a 1.5 kilometre distance of Brue Reach, which means that it would take you no more than around 20 minutes to walk anywhere in town. Why not take advantage of the pedestrian connections around East Huntspill.

Footways are locally available on New Road and Church Road, providing excellent, safe connections to the local amenities in East Huntspill. Traffic-free public footpaths to the west of the site can be accessed via New Road, convenient for leisure walks in the Somerset countryside.

If you have got empty seats, then why not offer someone a lift and split the cost of the travel? By advertising on the website, other users will be able to find your lift and pay you for it. You can also advertise if you need a lift.
The liftshare websites are a great way to connect with liftsharers!
Benefits of Car Sharing

-
Reduces travel costs as you will spend less on petrol and car insurance.
-
Reduces wear and tear on your own vehicle.
-
Helps reduce congestion. Car sharing helps to fill empty seats and as such reduce congestion and pollution.
-
Reduces stress levels related to driving. Driving during peak hours can be nerve wracking, however, as a passenger in a car you no longer have to stress about driving.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES
Electric Vehicles (EVs) are becoming more and more popular. Unlike conventional vehicles which burn petrol or diesel, EVs are powered by batteries just like your smartphone.

The main advantage of EVs is that they produce zero-emissions when you are using them. This means that they provide local environmental benefits including cleaner air and reduced noise in urban areas.

Today’s EVs have the latest cutting-edge technology and can drive over 200 miles on a single charge, with some able to cover over 375 miles on a single charge - the equivalent of East Huntspill to Scotland!

For more information on electric vehicles, visit:

Did you know?
Every 2 minutes a new EV is registered on UK roads.
Why go electric?

Easy Home Charging
With an EV you will never need to go to a petrol station again. Simply plug your car in when you get home to charge overnight and it’s ready for you in the morning.
Quiet and Quick
EVs offer a smooth and quiet ride, with a high level of torque instantly available.

Cheaper to Run
Compared to petrol or diesel, electricity is cheap. Per mile an EV could cost less than a third of what a traditional car costs.

Cheaper to Maintain
Compared to a traditional car, EVs have a lot fewer moving parts, with just three main components - the on-board charger, inverter and motor. This means there are fewer things requiring maintenance and servicing is simpler, all of which saves you money. You’ll never need to change the oil again!
Better for the Environment
EVs have no tailpipe emissions, and don’t even have an exhaust. Even when accounting for generating the electricity they use, EVs produce significantly fewer emissions than traditional cars.
